designjunction is delighted to support an important charity project: #whoscasper?
Following on from the successful #wherescasper campaign earlier this year, a selection of high profile creatives from a variety of disciplines have been invited to customise Casper stools, designed by Michael Sodeau and manufactured by Modus.
Why this matters…
The customised stools, exhibited at designjunction, are to be sold in a silent auction. All proceeds will go to Movement on the Ground, a charitable foundation responding to the humanitarian crises affecting men, women and children forced from their homes by climate change, poverty and war.
Designers taking part include: Jon Burgerman, Vic Lee, Alex Chinneck, Anthony Burrill, Moritz Waldemeyer, Ross Lovegrove, Barnaby Barford, James Joyce, Autoban, Snarkitecture, Sir Kenneth Grange, Chrissie Macdonald, Esther Cox, Studio Egret West and Nicholas Burrows.
The Caspers will not be associated with their designers. Bids will not be placed as a response to the named designer but because the individual Casper is appreciated as an individual and as a design. We are prompted to reconsider our perception of refugees as anonymous and dehumanised and reminded that the experience of a nameless person, unknown to us, deserves equal compassion to that of a person who is known.
