Beau McClellan Design will showcase a spectacular interactive LED chandelier at designjunction alongside their debut lighting collection. Nomad is an impressive 5m long lighting installation made up of 200 individual components, using the studio’s signature glass mirror-coating finish, reflecting the interior by day and becoming semi-transparent at night, when illuminated by LEDs. Each of the LEDs used in this stunning piece can be individually controlled to create numerous colour effects and variations using a touch screen, ipad or iphone. The light from the LED is cleverly diffused through frosted hand-ground crystal which magnifies the light, creating warm pastel shades of colour.

The PechaKucha phenomenon began in Tokyo in 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network and share their ideas. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of “chit chat”, this simple and effective format requires the speaker to show 20 images, each for 20 seconds.

Modenus.com, in partnership with the Architectural Digest Home Design Show in New York City and MyDeco.com, is organising Blogtour 2011, an event that will bring a group of prolific design, travel and lifestyle bloggers based in the US to the London Design Festival.
The bloggers will meet their British peers and be immersed in all things design related during the festival, as they visit and report back from major exhibitions such as designjunction, Decorex, and 100% Design as well as smaller events hosted by Britain’s most noted designers. This first ever, social media based, design tour focuses on creating a dialogue within the international design and cultural communities in the US and the UK and will highlight the importance and influence of London as a major design hub.

Japan’s super cool bicycle company, Tokyobike is set to make tracks this September with a series of guided tours across London, offering design enthusiasts the chance to try out these effortlessly stylish bikes. The tours will set off and finish at designjunction each day in Holborn, and will be led by leading design critics. The tours will take riders on a 3 hour journey to mystery design destinations across the capital and will stop off for lunch at designjunction’s pop-up café.
